01 About

Hi, I’m Taha! I’m an engineering student at the University of Saskatchewan with a strong interest in digital hardware, chip design, and computer architecture. I enjoy building hands-on projects that help me understand how computers work from the logic level up.

I’m especially interested in digital logic design, FPGAs, ASICs, and hardware verification, and I’m always looking for opportunities to strengthen my skills through new projects and real-world experience.

Currently am in my third year!

02 Projects

  1. 32-bit RISC-V CPU

A single-cycle RV32I processor built from the ground up in SystemVerilog — custom ALU, 32×32-bit register file, program counter, instruction decoder, control unit, and memory modules.

    • Wrote self-checking SystemVerilog testbenches for every RTL module — reset behavior, register semantics, dual-port reads, ALU operations, and control logic — with automated pass/fail reporting.
    • Implemented RV32I R-type and ADDI execution: opcode/funct decoding, immediate sign-extension, register write-back, and ALU control.
    • Verified the integrated core by hand-encoding RISC-V machine instructions, running them in Icarus Verilog, and debugging signal behavior in GTKWave.

  2. IoT Mailbox Simulator

A Python mailbox model that uses callback-driven sensor monitoring and multithreading to detect door open/close events from LED light-level signals.

    • Built a CLI tool that monitors system activity asynchronously with safe start/stop operations.
    • Modular design with a Git workflow for maintainability and version control.

  3. TV Remote Controlled Rover

A rover that navigates a maze using infrared commands decoded from a standard TV remote.

    • Developed embedded control logic for navigation and obstacle handling from sensor inputs.
    • Decoded IR command frames and mapped them to motor-control routines.

    Python · pytest · TDD

    • Built a scalable, modular platform for orchestrating AI agents in Python within a team of four, through a structured project placement.
    • Re-architected the workflow tracing system by introducing WorkflowTrace, a flat ordered sequence that replaced a nested structure — simplifying traversal and cutting complexity across the execution pipeline.
    • Refactored core modules with incremental commits to improve modularity and maintainability.
    • Applied test-driven development with pytest, extending coverage to validate trace ordering and prevent regressions.
